Featuring excellent graphics and a compelling storyline, Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is the new supernova in outer space combat sims on the iOS platform. This latest iteration in the GOF series easily surpasses its predecessors.

Galaxy on Fire 2 HD for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch Features

  • Dozens of Planets Across 20 Solar Systems
  • Beautifully Rendered HD Graphics
  • Smooth Space Combat Animation
  • A Host of Ships, Weaponry, and Upgrades
  • Complex Trading System With Nearly 200 Commodities
  • Both a Compelling Storyline and Open-Ended Gameplay

Developed by mobile gaming shop, Fishlabs, Galaxy on Fire 2 HD plays like a 21st Century version of the classic space simulation, Privateer. It's easily one of the best games available at the App Store.

Mining for Gold and Killing Some Voids

Galaxy on Fire 2 HD's storyline features the same protagonist as the original GOF, the weathered mercenary starfighter, Keith T. Maxwell. Reminiscent of Han Solo, Maxwell trades witty barbs with many of the game's other characters; many returning from the original Galaxy on Fire.

The plot in GOF 2 HD centers on defeating the Void threat, an alien species known for their hit and run guerrilla tactics. Even the Vossk, the enemies from the first GOF, are assisting in the battle against the Void.

Completing the storyline requires travel across the galaxy on a host of different tasks, although side missions are also available in the space lounge located in each station. This side work, including mining, is vital in earning the extra cash necessary to build a fast and powerful ship. The missions to the Void's home system are especially harrowing.

The game's HD graphics are stunning on the iPad 2; both planets and large ships are beautifully rendered. Extra coolness points go to the Vossk ships and stations. The combat animation in smooth and feels much more natural than GOF 1. The virtual controls are generally easy to use, although it is easy to fire the secondary weapon by mistake.

Galaxy on Fire 2's Open-Ended Gameplay

While the storyline in Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is rather short, the open-ended gameplay excels in a galaxy full of systems, planets, and aliens. A ton of ships and weapons remain available to purchase, and there is never a lack of missions available in the space lounge.

The gamer's profile sports a host of medals to earn, adding greatly to GOF 2 HD's replay value. Any fan of science fiction combat simulators needs to check out Galaxy on Fire 2 HD on the iOS platform. It truly is a milestone for the genre.
