Starting a PGA Tour Career on the iPad
While Tiger Woods 12 contains various game modes, the PGA Tour career is the heart of this title. Options for customizing the virtual player's look are limited compared to the console version, but this feature is generally irrelevant to the overall gameplay.
The player gets an initial outlay of Pro Shop cash to update important player attributes, with additional money earned through in-app purchases or by success on the course. The player's power is especially weak at the beginning of a career, making it difficult to reach some of the longer holes in the game.
Tiger Woods 12's iPad controls work beautifully, especially the swing meter, as the player is able to perform fades and draws with simple tablet swipes. As mentioned earlier, putting is easier than the console version of the game which definitely helps with the player's blood pressure.
The game's graphics are sharp and clear, but the courses don't have the full detail of the console versions. The animation and physics are generally smooth, but at times the feeling of playing on ice common to mobile golf games is noticeable.
Facebook Integration in Tiger Woods Golf
In addition to the PGA Tour career mode, Tiger Woods 12 features a collection of Tiger Challenges to unlock, earning additional Pro Shop cash. There is also a Closest to the Pin Challenge where a player competes with their Facebook friends by posting their best shots. This is also a good way to earn the precious Pro Shop money.
While Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 for the iPad is one of top golfing experiences on the iPad, providing additional courses through in-app purchases would add to the replay value. The missing Augusta National from the console version of the game is noted. Still, this is a worthy iPad download for golf game fans.
